Summer game studies 2026

Summer game studies are here again. The joint course from Lapland University of Applied Sciences and University of Lapland is organized for the 10th time this year starting 18.5.2026 and ending 21.8.2026. Over the summer student teams will design and make games based on their own ideas. Upon completion of the course students receive 20 credits. The finished game demo is also an excellent addition to any portfolio. Teaching consists of video lessons and workshops. After going through some game design fundamentals, the teams can start working on their own ideas.

The course is organized remotely. Students have a possibility to work at Lapland UAS campuses in Rovaniemi and Tornio. However, it is possible to join from anywhere in Finland, provided you have your own computer.

Subjects we cover include:

• Working as a part of a game design team
• Game design and script writing
• Game art (3D modeling, texturing and animation)
• Game programming with Unreal Engine blueprints
• Game production
• Game audio
